UFO Moviez Ltd, the world’s largest digital cinema network, is the media initiative of the over USD 1 billion Apollo Group led by Mr. Onkar Singh Kanwar, Chairman and Managing Director, Apollo Group.
UFO Moviez, the path-breaking initiative, is spearheaded by founder directors Raaja Kanwar and Sanjay Gaikwad, professionals from the Media and Gaming Industry with rich and varied experience in Gaming, Technology, Television, Internet, Retail and Marketing. Set to revolutionize the way films are distributed and exhibited in India through its pioneering technology and infrastructure, UFO Moviez envisages a ‘FIRST DAY FIRST SHOW’ regime for film distributors and cinema owners across the country. The Company's strength lies in its innovative business approach, execution skills and focus on technology enabled business innovations.
Recently 3i, one of the worlds leading investment funds dealing in technology and innovative products took a strategic stake in UFO by investing Rs.1000 Million. The funds will be utilised to fuel UFO growth plans worldwide.
Today with over 1000 digital cinema installations, UFO has taken the Indian film industry by storm. Within a short span of one and a half years, the Company has become the worldwide market leader in its area of operations offering end-to-end digital cinema solutions and delivering films via satellite directly to theatres using a unique pay per show business model.
UFO is shortly being rolled out in UAE, Europe, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mauritius, Nepal, Sri Lanka by the end of 2007 with 1000 installations

UFO digital cinema offers complete end-to-end digital cinema solutions to the global film fraternity. It integrates the diversified sectors of producers, distributors and exhibitors into one cohesive unit even as it remains a pure infrastructure service provider but at the same time it ensures that it does not disturb any of the existing business models in the film industry.
UFO invests in the digital cinema equipment it provides to the theatres, coordinates with producers for the content, encodes, encrypts and delivers the content for the distributors. Thus all in all UFO provides the complete digital cinema platform to the film industry.
UFO adopted a unique business model wherein it took on the cost of the investment and provided the digital cinema system to theatres on a refundable deposit.
UFO charges usage-based fees. This essentially means there are no fixed overheads on the exhibitor or even the distributor. They pay only for the shows used by them.

UFO has acquired a 51% stake in the digital cinema technology solution and now UFO plans to market the solution in other principal film markets of the world. With this acquisition UFO controls the high definition MPEG 4 worldwide
Hughes Escorts Communications Limited is the Indian joint venture of Hughes Network Systems (HNS). Hughes Network Systems Inc is a leading supplier of broadband satellite and wireless products, services & networks. It provides UFO with Satellite and Bandwidth Services.
Digital Projection International (DPI) manufactures and distributes an extensive and expanding line of ultra high-performance 3-chip and single-chip DLPT projection systems to UFO. It is the first Company to manufacture DLP projectors for Digital Cinema, it has tied up with technology giant Microsoft for Digital Cinema in USA. It also supplies projectors for OSCARs. The company has secured a prestigious contract from UK Films Corporation for Digital Cinema.
Panasonic Projection Systems, one of the world’s largest electronics products manufacturers, through their Indian Partner also supplies DLP projectors to UFO.
Prime Focus Ltd and Famous Studios Ltd, leading studios in Mumbai, provide content digitization services to UFO
