Airtel Partners with SingTel to Offer Free Incoming Calls while on International Roaming in Singapore

New Delhi, September 24, 2008: Bharti Airtel Ltd., India's leading integrated telecom services provider, today announced that it has partnered with SingTel, the official sponsor of the Singapore Formula 1, to offer all Airtel customers Free Incoming Calls while in Singapore on the race weekend. This is an exclusive offering from Bharti Airtel for the Inaugural 2008 Formula 1 SingTel Grand Prix being held on September 28, 2008.

All Airtel customers who will be visiting Singapore from September 25 to September 29, 2008 will be able to enjoy free incoming calls in Singapore. To avail this offer, Airtel users in Singapore will need to manually select SingTel's network on their handset. This offer is applicable for both Postpaid and Prepaid customers.



Currently the existing international roaming tariff for all incoming calls on the SingTel network is Rs. 52/- per minute for Postpaid customers and Rs. 50/- per minute for Prepaid customers.

Volvo Car India expands dealership base - forays into Hyderabad






Takes first step towards establishing presence in South



New Delhi, September 25, 2008: Swedish luxury car maker Volvo Car India today announced its entry into the southern region with opening of its dealership in Hyderabad in partnership with Talwar Cars Pvt. Ltd. located at Road No 12, Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. The dealership will be registered under the name Talwar Cars Pvt Ltd and will open the doors for the consumers in South India in the last quarter of 2008.

Green Efforts Go Local

• The event will incorporate and expand upon the company’s green business practices and the principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (three R’s) to help create an event with the lowest possible environmental impact. At the show, attendees will see the three R’s in action:

Bharti Foundation contributes over Rs 3 crores for relief operations

New Delhi, September 10, 2008: Bharti Foundation, the philanthropy arm of Bharti Enterprises that provides free education to thousands of underprivileged children by running and managing schools under the Satya Bharti schools programme, today made a contribution of over Rs 3 crores to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund for supporting the government’s relief work in flood affected areas of Bihar and Assam. The cheque was given today to the Hon'ble Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, by Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises and Co-Chairman, Bharti Foundation.

Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, said, “The recent floods in Bihar and Assam have affected millions of people and the devastation has been truly unfortunate. In this difficult moment for the affected people in the two states, Bharti Foundation would like to support the Government’s relief efforts in a humble but meaningful way, by making a contribution to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.”

Thousands of employees from across the Bharti Group had volunteered to donate one day’s salary to support the efforts of the Government in undertaking relief measures in the flood affected areas. This amount has been matched in equal by all Bharti companies and Bharti Enterprises.

Mumbai, September 5, 2008: The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Informatics Center (NIC), to implement BOSS Linux on select eGovernance projects developed and maintained by NIC. The MoU was signed by Mr. M. R. Rajagopalan, Director, C-DAC, Chennai and Mr. T. A. Khan, DDG, NIC.
On this occasion CDAC also launched Bharat Operating Systems Solutions (BOSS) Linux software version 3.0 developed by NRCFOSS (National Resource Centre for Free/Open Source Software).
The scope of this strategic alliance between C-DAC and NIC is to implement the latest 3.0 version of BOSS Linux, developed by NRCFOSS, in selected eGovernance projects maintained by NIC. The latest 3.0 version of BOSS has a series of additional features such as GNOME, KDE desktop environment, Bulk Document Converter and supports 18 desktop Indian languages. The software is also endowed with Bluetooth for short range of communications along with salient features like RSS Feed Reader and PDF Viewer to edit documents.
Speaking on the launch of BOSS 3.0 version, Shri. S. Ramakrishnan, Director General, C-DAC said, "C-DAC is committed on developing software solutions that are technologically advanced, yet providing value to Indian user community. Our constant endeavor to increase the adoption of computing among a wide cross section of Indian users, especially those in government first time users and Indian language centric users. NRCFOSS has achieved another milestone by launching the advanced version of BOSS. The MoU would encourage the procurement of Linux compatible devices for the use of e-Governance applications. NIC will identify suitable e-Governance applications for deployment of BOSS and utilize C-DAC's expertise in Linux software. C-DAC in turn would support telephonic, e-mail and portal delivery mechanism for the eGovernance program of NIC.
